Having worked in the retail ski industry for so long, Sportube's founder, Paul Hields, saw first hand how many ski and snowboards got damaged when traveling and thus Sportube was born.
The Origin Story
Sportube began with a simple problem, too many damaged skis and snowboards arriving at their destinations broken, bent, or unusable. In the early 1990s, our founder, Paul Hields, was working in the ski industry and saw firsthand the frustration of travelers missing out on epic powder days because their soft ski bags failed to protect their equipment. Determined to find a better way, Paul developed his first hard-sided, telescoping ski cases — the Series 1 and Series 2 — debuting in 1995. Sportube was born.
Built on Protection
As snowboarding surged in popularity, in the late 1990’s we expanded our hard case line with the ultra-versatile Series 3, offering a solution for snowboarders and skiers alike. Over time, we discovered that our protective cases served more than just winter sports junkies, they became trusted companions for spear fishers, freedivers, anglers, golfers, paddlers, and more. Then, in 2016, we introduced our first line of soft bags with the same durability and protection that define our legacy.
